| Matheson's
Model 8412 Ozone Monitor is a hand-held, portable instrument
designed for measuring trace levels of ozone in ambient air. A
large digital LCD readout clearly displays the ozone
concentration. An alarm sounds if the level exceeds 0.1
parts-per-million. A unique peak hold function stores in memory
the highest concentration encountered. |

use in a wide variety of applications which use ozone or are

| The Model
8332 is used to test the 8412 detector to ensure it is working.
It generates approximately 0.2ppm ozone by irradiating oxygen in
the air. It has the same size, weight and power specifications
as the 8412. The 8412 detector should be calibrated every six
months. You can return the unit to Matheson for calibration at a
nominal charge. |
| Principle of
Operation |
| The Model 8412 sensor
selectively adsorbs ozone onto a thin film semiconductor surface
where electron transfer takes place. The resulting negative
charge repels electrons into the center of the semiconductor
(similar to principle of a field effect transistor, FET),
causing the resistance of the semiconductor to increase, which
is measured as a drop in electrical current. The sensor's
relatively high temperature makes the surface
"self-cleaning''. |
