EPA Protocol Mixtures
The Clean Air Act Amendment of 1990 made significant changes in the monitoring of certain emissions. Performance standards promulgated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for stationary sources require the installation and operation of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMs) for specified pollutants. With the new monitoring rules it became essential under those requirements to use EPA Protocol gases traceable to an NIST Standard. For those applications that are required to utilize EPA Protocols mixtures Matheson offers a full range of products designed to assist you in taking the guess work from your instrument calibration. MATHESON UTILIZES A MINIMUM OF NTRM REFERENCE STANDARD TO MANUFACTURE ALL EPA PROTOCOL GAS MIXTURES. Note:
1. Mixes that do not meet the specifications described above, have a maximum shelf life of six (6) months
2. Certification periods are as prescribed by the EPA Protocol September 1993.
3. Mixes defined with a six (6) month shelf life can be recertified for a length of time defined by the higher concentration standard if the guidelines defined by the Protocol stability requirements are met.
4. Some mixes may not be available due to critical mix limitations and safety considerations.
5. To maintain mix stability, EPA Protocol gas mixes should not be used below 150 psig.
